What is a Shared/School Decision-Making Committee?

The primary purpose of our school decision-making committee, or shared decision-making committee (SDMC), is to provide an inclusive and collaborative model when making decisions designed to empower teachers, parents, and community members.  BCMAR’s SDMC believes it is beneficial to student success and school culture to allow the community to have an active voice in local school matters, ultimately aiming to improve student outcomes. Our SDMC committee consists of parents, teachers, school leaders, and stakeholders.  Together as a team, we are responsible for assessing educational outcomes, determining goals and strategies, developing and approving campus-level plans, and making recommendations regarding the school's budget, curriculum, and staffing patterns.
